Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Binary Thought (PTY) Ltd collects through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Binary Thought (PTY) Ltd, registration number 2025/916759/07, 87 3rd Avenue, Kenilworth, Cape Town 7708, South Africa. Our information officer is Werner Olivier, who you can reach at info@binary-thought.com.
What this website collects
- When you visit: our hosting provider records each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, and the description your browser gives of itself. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure.
- When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, organisation if you give it, and your message. The website sends these to our mailbox and keeps no copy.
That is all. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising, and loads nothing from other companies' servers.
How we use your enquiry
We use it to reply to you and, if we go on to work together, as part of our correspondence with you. We do not sell it, add you to a mailing list, or use it for marketing.
Who else handles it
- Amazon Web Services hosts this website and delivers enquiries to us.
- Microsoft 365 hosts our email.
Both act on our instructions under data-protection agreements. Some of their processing may take place outside South Africa.
How long we keep it
- Visit logs: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Enquiries: as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, and as long as the law requires us to keep business records. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Our products
Each of our products has its own privacy policy:
- Butler4Me privacy policy
- CardPrint: when a university or college uses CardPrint, the institution decides what information about its students and staff is processed, and we process it on its behalf under our agreement with it. Questions about that information go to the institution first.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email info@binary-thought.com. We will answer within a reasonable time, and tell you if we first need to confirm who you are.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
